3 Types of Coffee Makers

Brewing coffee brewing is easy and has been easy since the beginning. All you need are ground coffee beans and hot water. However with a coffee maker the process is made easier and automatic. The irony is that now choosing the right coffee maker is the hardest part of making a great coffee.

In our store we sell hundreds of different coffee maker types that you can buy. Choosing one machine from a stack of great machines can be an exhausting experience. However, once you understand the difference between each coffee machine types better you will be more informed on what is available and then you can better decide which coffee maker is the best for your need.

1. Vacuum Coffee Maker

Ever since the 19th century the vacuum coffee maker is one of the most popular machine to brew coffee. In these brewers, water is heated in a bottom chamber until the water rises up through a narrow tube to the upper chamber contains ground coffee. The heated water is then mixed with the ground coffee and saturate it for a preset amount of time. When time is up the heat is then removed and the vacuum the pulls the brewed coffee back down through a strainer into the lower chamber.

2. Drip Coffee Maker

This kind of coffee maker is the most commonly found in homes today. Thanks to it's simplicity it has become the preference for lots of coffee lovers. Not to mention it has a very favorable price.

The coffee grounds are initially measured into a filter which is then put into the filter holder. The water is heated by an electrical element in a separate chamber removing the need of a stove or of pre-heating. You just need to pour the suggested amount of water into the water tank and turn on the machine to brew. It is favorable to brew a full pot but if you don't need that much you can also make enough for a cup or two.

Drip coffee machines produce a clear and very light bodied coffee and of course as with any other coffee you should serve it immediately after brewing.

The manual and automatic drip brewers are comparable in cup quality and features of automatic drip coffee makers include the ability to heat and maintain a hot water temperature, spray heads for even dispersion of water over coffee grounds, and the use of filter holders which are designed for high extraction.

2. Percolator

coffee was brewed in a percolator long before drip coffeemakers were made and for some people a percolator brew better coffee. Of course that is simly a matter of taste preference. Those who prefer percolator believe that the percolation process delivers more pure taste. They also believe that some of the natural oils and flavonoids of the beans are lost when filtered in a drip coffeemaker.
