This is the best coffee maker I've owned
My last coffee maker died this week. It's been behaving erratically for months. So, I did the research on the net, and found this one. It's a snap to set up, is simple and handsome, and it covers all the bases for function. It makes a great cup of coffee, a full 12-cup brew took so little time that I thought the sound signal that it was finished might be a mistake, LOL. The carafe is wide-mouthed glass, so it's easy to get my hand inside it to wash it thoroughly.
It offers the option to use either a permanent filter (well, they do wear out, but are easily replaceable), or, to use #4 paper filters. The filter lifts out easily for disposal. The Brew Central even comes with it's own coffee measure.
I haven't used a machine that has a timer feature before. It will be fun to set this up to have hot, fragrant coffee ready for me when I awaken in the morning.
I'm thrilled to have found it.

Great Coffeemaker
This coffeemaker does everything I expect a coffeemaker to do....brews a good pot of coffee very quickly and keeps it hot until I have finished the whole pot. I have two of these, one at the office and one at home. I am very happy with them both.

Nice coffee maker
Well, what does one say about a coffee maker? It makes coffee. I agree with some other reviewers that the water fill port is located a little bit awkwardly, but this is not a huge deal. The graduation marks in the water reservoir are useless; you really can't see how much water is in there, so you need to measure out your water before pouring it in. It has some nice features. I like the programmable auto shutoff timer, and the 1-4 Cup setting really does somehow make better coffee when brewing a small amount. The black and brushed steel design matches nicely with our other kitchen appliances. Similar features and brewing quality can probably be found at a lower price point, but I guess we pay for design and build quality, too.

Happy Husband!
My husband is the coffee drinker in our household and I think we finally found the coffeemaker of his dreams. After 50 plus years , we have it. s

Coffeemaker - not the usual Cuisinart quality
The system works well -except for a major design flaw. The indicator for the amount of water you put in is inside the coffeemaker and is useless unless you are making ten cups or more. Previous Cuisinart coffeemakers had an exterior water level indicator. Now one has to measure the water in the carafe, then pour the water into the machine - a two-step process.

very useful coffeemaker
I've had this coffeemaker for about 3 weeks. It brews a good cup of coffee in a minimum of time, is easy to use and to clean, and is perfect for one person in either a home or an office setting. The unit does make a fair amount of noise, so may not be suitable for some applications, but if you're looking for an inexpensive coffeemaker for one person, this may be it. Permanent filter and stainless steel mug with plastic interior.

Good product overall
Overall it's a good product for the money. My only preference would have been that the wide part of the reservoir would have been on the right instead of the left as most people are right handed.

Not great
It's not as good as the old one! I had an earlier version of this unit which was great. I used it almost every weekday for nine years, and it worked perfectly until the end. This new one is almost as unreliable as the old one that I had to replace when it became, well, unreliable. The unit is made for 12 ounces, but a) it doesn't pump out all of the water, and b) if you put enough coffee in for a 12 ounce cup the grounds spill out into the reservoir and splash up on the inside of the cover. Summary: the earlier version made a perfect 10 ounce cup of coffee EVERY time until it wore out. This model is iffy - when it works right it makes a good 10 ounce cup of coffee, but it's not good for a bigger cup, and even the 10 ounce cup is unreliable. Interestingly, the unit that I bought in 2001 cost about $20 as did this 2010 unit!

Everything done WRONG!
Burned my thumb (bad design)!
Stopped working after the first brew... product is extremely cheaply made.
There is no Auto-Off switch (meaning, u can't just stop brewing.. must wait for the carafe to empty out)

great coffee
This coffee maker gives me the best cup of coffee I have ever been able to make at home and does it quickly. I have ground my beans and bought good coffee for years and finally enjoy the result. It is easy to clean and use. The carafe will keep the coffee reasonably hot/warm for up to three hours. If I want to make that longer I put boiling water in the carafe for several minutes before I turn the maker on. The only drawback (not for me) might be the height of the unit when the lid is up, 24 inches. Down it easily fits under the upper cabinets in the kitchen. I think you would have to spend a lot more money to get a coffee maker that would make a better cup of coffee.

Better than most.
This coffee maker is a replacement for one I bought new, that lasted just one week. That brand shall remain nameless. But, I read Consumers Report and they rated this one pretty high, so I decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did because it's a good one, and I think CU is right on this one.
Some of the problems with it is the inability to find many of them on the local store shelves to sample before you buy. But I went on-line, and found a local dealer and went down to take a look. The unit first appear to be cheaply made because it is so light in weight, but it is not cheaply made by any standards. I think it is lighter because it is simpler, which means eaiser to maintain. It come apart easily for cleaning, unlike most of the others.
Many of the coffee makers I looked at had such a small area or opening to pour the water in. It is such a hassle to have to fight your coffee maker every night just to have it ready to go the next morning. I like the wide opening on this one.
Many complain about the small brew basket that does not hold a #4 cone just right. And I agree. What happens is the paper filter usually pushes the brew basket lift handle up just a bit, and when you swing the water nozzle back into place, it grabs the lift handle. I just push the paper down in the basket a little and learned to live with it. It is my only complaint on this model, and when you get some of these coffee makers home, and have to fight with all their problems every night, this little miss-design is really not so bad compared to others. But ultimately, the basket needs a redesign, and about a half an inch added to it.
My only other slight complaint is the carafe lid. You have to line up the dots on the lid just so when pouring your cup, or the coffee just kinda dribbles out.
Like I said, this one has it's little faults, that you learn to live with, but compared to the other I have had, and they were not cheap, this one is a winner.

Great Machine
I've previously written a review for a machine of a different brand and that model was a very good one, however, there were some issues that we realized it had after we used it for a while which I won't discuss here since it isn't relevant to this machine. First thing I want to say is that we love this machine. I'm not quite a coffee connoisseur but I do appreciate the taste of a nice flavorful cup of coffee and this machine does just that. I've learned a lot about what it takes to get that flavorful cup and this machine seems to have all it takes to do that. The coffee is hot and stays hot for quite a while after it brews. In my house coffee doesn't last too long in the pot to begin with... so hot is not really a problem. My problem was finding a machine to get us that great taste that you find in your favorite diner or restaurant. I like the idea of the stainless carafe as opposed to the hot plate and I can say that this carafe is quality built. Stainless steel inside and out and although the coffee is hot on the inside... the outside of the carafe remains cool to the touch which tells me that this is well insulated. I've had a cup of coffee one hour after we brewed and it was still plenty hot to drink. The machine is very easy to use and maintain. And as far as the #4 filters sticking up out of the basket... please, don't these people have anything else worth complaining about... in other words... it's not a problem. They really don't stick out... just tuck the slight bit under. The machine works fine and we never once had a problem with overflow of water or coffee coming out of the basket. If you set up the machine right, and it doesn't take a person with an engineering masters to do it, then you will be pleased with a great tasting result. My wife likes the simple design which is a bonus for me since the machine fitting in with the kitchen is important as well (to her anyway...:) ) Bottom line, try it out. We are glad we did.

Great product, needs some modifications for ease of use
We love this coffee maker, especially the thermal carafe, and ease of making coffee. I would purchase it again. My comments are that several features could be improved: First, the water temperature doesn't seem as hot as our previous coffee maker. One must warm the carafe with really hot water, after just having used it to pour cold water in the receptacle, before making a pot of coffee, or the coffee is not hot enough. Second, the flat, screw-top lid is difficult to turn to open and pour for your first cup - we have resorted to using flat rubberized jar openers to get at that first cup of brew. We may be weak, but I suspect making the lid so flat, with "helpful?" projections is the problem. Third, if you don't put the small extra lid on after making the coffee, it will cool off quite fast. But these are engineering / ergonomic points that don't interfere with the quality, once you get the hang of it.

I'm very happy with this coffee maker. It completes the cycle quickly, and the coffee taste is excellent. The carafe does not leak or spill when pouring. A major upgrade to our old unit. Ordering the product was easy and prompt.

I had an older Cuisinart that had to be replaced. After reading the reviews here, I decided to go with this new model. So far, so good. I am pleased with the design changes they made. Easier to use and the coffee tastes great (bold or regular brew choices) and stays hot. Would recommend.

A Keeper
After lots of research,(read reviews here and other places) decided to purchase this one. I bought it about a month ago. So far, I am not disappointed with quality of coffee. Last cup tastes good as first, no "burnt" taste. The beeping sound when coffee is done was at the beginning a bit disconcerting, but I am now used to it. Putting water in carafe is not a big deal, I haven't missed yet. Fits under counter, but I do have to pull it out in order to add water. Again, not a big deal. I am the only coffee drinker in my home, wish this was a 12 cup instead of 14. My old coffee pot was a Braun, which was much easier to clean, as this carafe has many nooks and crannies in it, takes just a little be longer to clean it (by hand). Also the lid of carafe can be difficult to take off and on. Overall good coffee maker.

Finally, Cuisinart Gets it Right
I am a morning coffee addict and am always searching for the perfect cup of joe. I've been through more coffee makers than I can count, and there is a trail of jettisoned Cuisinart coffee makers littering my path.
Before this model (DCC-2600 14 cup, glass carafe), I had the DCC 2000 (on demand serving bar) and the DCC 1150 (10 cup thermal). The thermal was a total waste of $$ (lukewarm, not very good tasting coffee); the DCC 2000 was just OK -- fun to use initially -- but large and a lot of steps both to set up and to clean -- and the coffee was just OK.
I switched for a while to the AeroPress -- I give that 5 stars -- but it's a problem if you want to make a lot of cups of coffee to refill your cup throughout the morning. For a single cup, it's maybe the best solution -- easy and fun to use, and makes a cup of coffee that is completely bitter-free.
But back to the DC-2600....
Pros:
1. Good looking, reasonably compact; 2. Good controls -- You can brew, or auto-start brew at a given time; use a 1-4 cup setting for small pots; use a normal or strong brew setting (not clear to me how these latter two settings actually differ -- both slow down the brewing a bit and don't seem to want to work together); auto turn off of the thermal plate (with ability to program the time); there is an easy manual on-off control; and a control for starting a cleaning cycle (as well as a light that alerts you when you need to do a cleaning). 3. Comes with a gold cone (although I tend to prefer paper); also comes with a replaceable water filter (if you care) 4. The glass carafe has a good handle and a tight lid (sometimes you have to work a bit to get it to click on, but that's no big deal). It pours well (except for the last dribbles which can get stopped by the lip) 5. The thermal plate has 3 settings, low, warm and hot. I love the low -- it keeps the pot warm without burning 6. The water reservoir is easy to access and pour into (although not as large as on some Brauns and other makes). As mentioned, the lip on the carafe makes it hard to pour the final bit of coffee out, or, in this case, water into the reservoir, but just put more water in so you don't have to pour that final bit. 7. There is a water measure on the right side of the maker
MOST IMPORTANT -- The coffee tastes excellent, comes out hot and, using the low setting for the thermal plate, stays great tasting for a solid two hours.
Cons:
All minor -- 1. the red ball in the water measure (as has been the case in all my Cuisinarts) tends to get stuck at the bottom -- but you can still see how much water is in the tube; 2. I wish the water measure were in the front, instead of the right side (I have to pull it out to see it, but it's hard to call this a design flaw); 3. The lights can be a bit confusing -- even when the coffee maker is off there are lit lights for the 1-4 and/or normal/strong buttons; 4. The clean button is identical to the 1-4 button -- I admit to having once accidentally trying to brew with it (not good!)
Hands down, this is the Cuisinart coffee maker to get. I would deduct a 1/2 star for the minor flaws above, but fully recommend this model.
Rating :
Best I have used / good value for money
This is the 3rd generation of this maker I have used. Its "strong" setting, is indeed strong (although it takes extra time to brew, as you would expect). Coffee stays hot for the duration of the auto-time hot plate. External water volume meter is helpful (especially since carafe sizing is a little less than the water meter - 8 cups in carafe is only about 6.5 on the meter). Gold coffee filter in this model will last for years.

replaced my delonghi
Again wanted a programmable coffee maker! This replaced my thermal Delonghi style (no longer made). I always check the time, and reset it if needed. So far the only complaint I have, is pause and brew feature! so to make it work without feature I removed the plunger and the carafe cover. Honestly I preferred the 5 cup model the maker(sometimes it seems to run slow). I use a permanent filter and one paper filter it makes cleanup much easier. So far so happy and glad, to have my coffee ready when I wake! I don't understand the clock complaints from others? You can make the coffee an hour before waking, it will stay hot 2 hrs after it brews? I bought these 2 more as spares in case my 5 cup dies. I usually transfer my brewed coffee to a thermal mug anyway and shut the coffee maker off.

Disappointing quality
I have previously owned several Mr. Coffee products and had been satisfied with all of them; however, this coffee maker developed cracks on both sides at the junction between the black plastic and the transparent plastic within two months. Appears to be a design defect - very disappointing.

Questions & Answers
Question : How do you use a professional coffee machine?
I am looking for a job at the moment, but all the notices for vacancies in cafes say you must have 2 or 3 years experience using a coffee machine! is it difficult? how do u do it?how could i learn if im inexperienced so no1 will hire me?
Answer:
HiyaYes it is a pretty skilled job, it takes a long time to perfect good quality coffees at a fast pace. Coffee shops can get very busy and no one likes to wait around for their coffee. You can do a "coffee making skills" course, however , even this will not gurantee you a job.. The most important thing is getting experience and so you ideally need to find a job in a small small cafe that doesn't get very busy , perhaps you will have to do a week or so voluntary so that they take you on and train you you can look online and get a book and atleast start learning the differences between all the coffees - latte, espresso, americano. etc etc Most cafes also serve their coffee using "coffee art" this is where you free pour the milk/use a utensil in a special way to create an artistic look to the coffee .. this takes a long time to perfect..I can't explain to you on here how you use a coffee machine but after a one day course you willl pretty much understand it.. then its just a case of expereince experience experience. When you apply for the jobs you can say that you have taken the course, and are very eager to improve your skills.. try and highlight your other positive attributes like friendly/ fast learner/ experience with cash handling or any other hospitality work/ so that they can overlook the lack of coffee knowledge...Keep looking , not all cafes will expect you to be perfect on the coffee machine.

Question : Where do I get a commercial Starbucks coffee machine?
I just got back from my bank where they have a self serve, Starbucks branded coffee machine that allows you to select 1.) Size of cup (Gallon, Carafe, Tall, Small) 2.) Type of Coffee (regular, etc.) and then you hit the start button and it grinds and brews a cup of coffee for you that tastes EXACTLY like the drip brew coffee at a real Starbucks. I am looking into what the name of this machine is, and where I can get one. Thanks!
Answer:
I'm not sure what the machine looked like, so without add'l info, I couldn't find precisely what you're seeking. However, it appears many Starbucks-branded commercial machines for sale to the public are actually Saeco brand machines. Here's a page with numerous commercial machines, including Saeco..http://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/Super-automatic-espresso-machines-s/45.htmHope this helps! :)-AskYourQ

Question : What is the difference between a coffee machine and espresso machine?
I bought an espresso machine, and i can't tell the difference between this and a regular coffee machine, it does the same thing doesn't it? i know it has a milk frothing arm on it, but is that the only difference?i didn't get ripped off, it was only 19.99
Answer:
Espresso uses far less water, and runs through a more complicated system before it gets to your cup.

Question : What home coffee machine is the best for making late, capucino...?
What home coffee machine is the best for making late, capucino...I wanna buy good one but not very expensive.
Answer:
If you want something under $100 you may want to try Bialetti Mukka Express - it is a special stovetop espresso maker that makes latte / cappuccino. There is also an electric version if you don't want to use a stovetop (but that's more expensive)

Question : How do you properly clean a coffee machine?
Yesterday I decided to do my husband a favour and clean the coffee machine with vinegar. I thought by running two full carafes of water through it afterwards it would remove all the vinegar taste but apparantly the first batch of coffee tasted awful and had to be thrown out. Uh oh. I've put four more carafes of water through this morning. Now the water tastes fine to me. What do I do next? What should I do next time? Thanks in advance.
Answer:
Use a vinegar/water rinse, then run fresh water through it. I have a self cleaning coffee maker, but I still do this at least once a month because if I don't, the coffee starts getting a really nasty flavor to it. You did good!!! Really! But next time, do a vinegar/water rinse. It'll help. I've done the same thing on several occassions. There have been many a pot of coffee that have been thrown out in this house! So, you did good!

Question : Is it worth purchasing a coffee machine for my parents christmas present?
Me and my brother (both 13) were thinking about pulling our money together to buy our parents a coffee machine. We wouldn't be willing to buy one for over £30. Is it worth the money?
Answer:
As the father of 5 children, Alice, I agree with lil devil - it's the thought that counts. I'm not saying you shouldn't do some research to get the best price for something your parents can use but that's secondary to the fact that you and your brother are using your own money to buy a gift for your parents.I'm sure they'll treasure whatever you get for them!

Question : What is the purpose of the brew strength controller on my coffee machine?
So I bought a Mr Coffee machine and I noticed there was an brew strength option on it, either to make it strong or regular. I just wanted to know what difference it made? I mean, if I wanted to increase the strength of the coffee, I could have just added more coffee beans. Or maybe that's the point? Please help!
Answer:
The vast majority of currently made (In China) coffee machines, especially Mr. Coffee, fail miserably in getting the water to the correct temperature for the best tasting coffee. Lucky to hit 170 F. As for the 'strength option' it does nothing more than retard the flow over water through the filter allowing the water to extract more of the chemicals in the coffee grounds. Typically this just over extract the bitter chemicals giving the perception of a 'Stronger' cup of coffee. Bad coffee is bad coffee no matter how long it sets in the water.Few drip machines reach the level of temperature needed to extract the coffee essence correctly. TO attain a STRONGER cup of coffee you need to ADD more coffee grounds to the same amount of water.

Question : How to make a double shot espresso without a coffee machine?
I have no coffee machine and this is my first time making espresso. I'm trying to make a dessert in which double shot espresso was called for. Please kindly highlight a good brand of coffee. Thanks.
Answer:
I know you used to be able to buy bottles of brewed espresso. Try looking in grocery stores and places, if not then stove-top brewers can be a lot cheaper than "true" espresso machines. Other than that you could go to your local coffee bar and ask for a double shot to go as if its going into a recipe then use that. If you're using it in a recipe it shouldn't matter too much. A spoonful of instant coffee dissolved within 1oz of hot water would make the something simler to espresso. If you need fresh espresso (i.e. serving directly to people) then I would rrecommendeda sstove topbrewer or invest in a "true" espresso machine and enjoy.Interms of what time of coffee beans to go for try a blend like After Dinner. Coffee from Central America would be good. Avoid Colombian as it tends to be sweet and may become very sickly in a sweet desert.

Question : How to clean out my coffee machine?
HI - I am finding my Breville coffee machine a little sluggish (happened a couple of times). That is, the steamer didn't start dripping when the machine was switched on (should start dripping about a minute after). A friend who is a coffee fanatic told me to use a mixture of lemon juice and ? (forgotten) but I was not willing to waste lemons for this (and the method seemed complex). Can anyone advise me what to use and how to do it?
Answer:
I've never heard of using lemons, but I have used white vinegar and had very good luck with that. I fill my coffee pot up half way with white vinegar and dump it into the water resevoir and let it run through the pot. I then dump another half of a coffee pot into the water resevoir and just let it sit there for a few minutes to help soak anything that might be inside the resevoir. I then run it through again and if you can do it, turn the coffee machine off half way through the drip process to help clean out the other parts of the machine. I then run 2 or 3 pots of water through the coffee machine to clear out all of the vinegar and gunk and the coffee runs and tastes better.
