I am not sure why anyone has a complaint

I read the reviews and I am not sure why anyone has a problem. I have not had any of the issues that others have. I guess maybe it's the coffee I use but I have not had any grounds in my coffee. Also one reviewer complained there wasn't an external view of the reservoir so you couldn't see the amount of water you put int. There is one on the craft and unlike other coffee pots I have owned this one is pretty accurate. If you need 6 cups the fill the craft to the 6 cup line or slightly above and that's what you get. No big deal. Also filling the water is not as difficult as people say. I have yet to spill water and might never spill water, of course all the other coffeemakers I have had included similar openings.

I am completely satisfied with my purchase. This has been the best coffeemaker I have. its very easy to use and the coffee taste great.

I would use your best judgment on what you want and not listen to negative reviews for this product because they are the exception and there are more positive reviews then negatives.

Great coffee maker, no real complaints

While I received this coffee maker as a "free-be" via credit card rewards rather than buying it, having used it for the past six months, I can say I'd definitely have shelled out the money for it if necessary. It looks very nice, is easy to use (albeit it's a bit tall), makes a great cup of coffee, and has the other perks other reviews have reported (solid construction, 1-4 cup setting, variable-temperature warming plate, filter, etc.).

The only criticism I could possibly come up with, as has already been mentioned, is that the cup markings inside the unit itself are difficult to see. However, as I measure using the carafe rather than the water reservoir, that's never been an issue for me personally.

Really Good Coffee over and over again

We have worn out three of these fantastic coffee makers. Normally, we will drink about 5 pots of coffee a day and this pot has not let us down one time. It takes about 1 minute per cup which is just enough time in the morning to let the dogs out and by the time they return it is ready for the first batch. We find the filling a bit of a chore. In the beginning getting the right amount of water in the little chute was a tad awkward but now we are used to it. The gold filter works well as does the #4 paper filters. The #4s have doubled in price since we began using this pot. The internal water filter does a good job at eliminating any taste that may appear in the water. You do have to replace it at least once every 6 months depending on your water. Our water comes out of a creek by some circular route and is quite clean while a friend's comes out of the city's sewer system and is a tad different. All of that adds up to this pot making a fine pot of coffee and it does so consistently.

We have been so happy with this one we have decided to go for the DCC-2600 which has the same features except it is 14 cup versus 12, and there is an external window to see the fill level along with a better chute arrangement according to the advertisement. We'll see.

Bottom line: Would I buy this again? In a heart beat.

two design flaws with this coffeemaker

I've owned this coffeemaker for a year now and have discovered that while it makes a good cup of coffee it has two design flaws. The water intake chamber and the filter chamber are placed so close to where you pour the coffee into the cone that grounds tend to "spill" into those chambers unless you are very very careful. I can imagine that over time this could clog up the water system within. Here's a little test to see if it's happening to you. Fill the water chamber then pour it out into a clear pitcher. No doubt you'll see grounds. This isn't good!

Rating :

Solid!

This is a solid coffee maker, brewing coffee according to the strength you want from a few cups to a whole pot. It warms the coffee without cooking it or letting it remain tepid. You can also program it for the exact time you reach for a cup in the morning.

It Works, And the Coffee's Good

Have tried five different coffee blends in the Keurig system and find the coffee that's delivered to be hot, fresh and delicious. The convenience and lack of waste are big selling factors for me. I use my regular brewer in the morning and the Keurig for later in the day when one cup is just what I need.

Rating :

Way overrated

If you're interested in a quick and easy cup of hot brown liquid, look no further. If you truly enjoy a good cup of coffee...keep looking. I tried all the different blends and they were all horrible.

Convenience, indeed, does have its price and I'm not prepared to sacrifice flavor for convenience. This one went back to Amazon.

You must buy this!

This coffee maker is outstanding! Using an extra bold K-cup you can open/close the Keurig and brew a small cup using the same K-Cup if you need to water down the coffee and it also fills up any extra large mug you may have. Keurig also has an offer were you can purchase two boxes of K-cups and get 2 free (plus free shipping!). While I still use my regular coffee maker during the week I use the Keurig for an extra kick in the evening or on special occasions.

Rating :

Only two negatives

A friend of mine had splurged and bought herself this coffee pot. She was showing it off to me and I thought it was pretty neat. But I was dubious about the upkeep cost (the k-cups). It is technically cheaper to get a normal coffee pot and brew from regular grounds. However, a lot of us (including myself) throw half the pot down the drain because we just don't drink that much. The solution to this, if you don't want to buy the cups, is to buy the Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter in which you can put your preferred ground beans.

By the way... kudos to the reviewer that broke down the costs for regular coffee, k-cups, and going to a coffee shop. That review is probably what tipped me over the edge of my decision making.

A couple of weeks later I was telling my husband about this coffee pot and he was impressed! Our problem has been that he wakes up so much earlier than I do (4 a.m. vs. 8 a.m.) and it is not worth it for him to brew just a cup for himself in the morning or brew an entire pot that sits there for 4 hours burning. This single cup serving is the perfect solution for him while I can continue to brew a pot for myself when I wake in the morning.

After reading the reviews of all the coffee pots and different coffees, this is what I ended up choosing as a Father's Day gift for him. I chose this one over the other Keurig models because of the 9.5 oz button that the others lack. The day it got here, he promptly brewed four different cups of coffee. I can tell I've made a great choice. We use it every day.

There are only two negatives about this product that I've found. First, unlike many appliances that are power savers in one way or another, this product is constantly on. It keeps (I'm guessing) 10 ounces of water in a warming reservoir so that when you push that brew button, it is ready to go. If you want to save on your power bill, make sure you use the on/off button or the auto on/off feature. The downside of that is that it takes 5 mins or so for the water to warm up once you turn it back on. The second negative is not one I've experienced but one I was warned about. At the bottom of the refillable reservoir is a rubber gasket that may eventually fail the more times you remove the reservoir. I've avoided this by using my retracting kitchen sink nozzle to refill it instead of removing the entire thing.

Good Machine....

Overall I'm pleased with this machine. It has a number of features that have a practical use and not just gee whiz junk that you set once and never change. Its EASY to setup and operate and works well. Its very convienient to make 1 cup of coffee with no muss or fuss but don't throw out the 12 cup coffeemaker for when company's over. I also like being able to have a cup of hot water instantly for tea etc. The K-cups are somewhat expensive but if you don't mind paying a few cents more for speed, convienience, and a good, consistant cup of coffee then this machine is for you. Enjoy.....

Love my little one-cup coffee maker

I've used several of these different kinds of one-cup coffee makers over the years, and so far the Black & Decker Brew 'n Go Personal Coffee Maker is one of the best I've encountered. It makes a consistent cup of coffee day in and day out, is easy to clean, and comes with its own little handy travel mug. I have no complaints. I would recommend this for anyone who has a cup-a-day habit, or like me, has one cup on the way to work, and then drinks one cup of the nasty free stuff once my first cup is gone. This coffee maker is an excellent value; you will love it.

A Great Little Appliance!

This little coffee maker is a great little appliance for any single or mug a day coffee drinker. It's a miser, only two tablespoons of ground coffee gives you a great, moderately strong large mug of coffee. Only five minutes from start to finish, it shuts itself off and has an easy to clean permanent filter too. I take it with me when I go camping, it's small and there's no glass pot to break. This is one of my favorite appliance purchases.Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug

Love it!

I've only had this product for a short while, but so far I'm in love. I couldn't find a personal coffeemaker anywhere in my local area. So, this was a great deal and it works wonderfully. I don't drink coffee, so maybe this isn't this most recommended review, but my hot tea is fabulous. The maker handles standard sized coffee mugs, none of the tall ones, but I'm sure everyone has mugs (besides the one it comes with) that will be accomodated by this maker. I especially appreciate the auto shut-off feature. I would definitely recommend this product to those that need a hot drink fix for one (I keep mine on my desk at work).

A little Powerhouse D!!

A lady had given me my first Brew 'n go Coffeemaker with Travel Mug. That was approximately 2 or more years ago. I ordered me another one about a month ago because I was scared mine might go out and I wouldn't have another, so I absolute had to have another one!! My sister came to visit and loved it's performance so much that she ordered herself one online. It is without a doubt the best Coffeemaker I've ever owned and I'm 65 years old. I will without a doubt make sure I always have one in possession. I must admit tho' that I use #2 coffee filters in my Coffeemaker. They are readily available and they work better than the filter that comes with it. IT'S THE VERY GREATEST PEOPLE !!!!!!!

Good product!

I have been using it six month now with reusable filter for my favorite coffee grain. I could give five stars if it don't make irritating noise.
I put a rubber pad underneath to mediate the noise. I wish it'd be a little taller for thermo bottle.

Rating :

good coffee, and at the end of the day, minor issues

A few detailed thoughts on issues raised by others as well as a few of my own.

LOUDNESS: This unit is pretty loud, though the rigidity of the countertop makes a difference. If you have it on granite it's a bit quieter than on formica. Formerly on granite, mine now sits on formica right next to my toaster oven and the thing vibrates so much that it rattles the toaster & it's rack. The effect is jarring, though I've gotten used to it. The noise seems more objectionable in the quiet early morning hours than in the evening. Keurig needs to address the loudness with internal damping and better feet on the machine.

COFFEE QUALITY: The coffee produced from K-cups is superb. Coffee I've made from my favorite bulk beans using the (optional) reuseable filter is excellent as well, though it ALWAYS has a slight scum/foam around the edge that stirs into the coffee but ends up as a very fine silt in the bottom of the cup. This happens no matter how fine or coarse the grind. I don't find this particularly objectionable, just a little unpleasant. The coffee still tastes very good.

If you tear open a used K-cup you see that it incorporates a paper filter, whereas the reuseable filter is steel mesh in a plastic cage which, I think, explains the silt. Shame someone doesn't manufacture an add-in paper filter for the screen filter. That may seem redundant, but the screen would serve as a good support for a paper filter and the coffee is otherwise slightly silty.

COFFEE STRENGTH: With the K-cups the coffee is stronger than with the reuseable filter. This is due to the paper filter in the K-cup slowing water flow enough to create a brew slurry whereas the mesh reuseable filter allows the water to rush through. With the reuseable filter, toward the end of the brew the outflow into the cup is almost as pale as water. And when you look at the spent coffee in the mesh filter, it has a vertical tunnel bored through it by the water flow - the coffee doesn't mix well or evenly with the water.

Their engineers would probably argue that, because the bottom of the reuseable filter is solid and the walls are mesh, the water has to flow horizontally through the grounds. The evidence is that the bulk of the water actually tunnels vertically down through the core of the grounds and horizontally along the bottom until it flows out the mesh at the bottom. Again, an add-in paper filter would be useful.

EXPENSE OF USE: K-cups, purchased online, cost about twice the price of fine bulk coffee. I use the optional reuseable filter with bulk coffee for my own morning cup and keep K-cups on hand for guests.

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES: The K-cups I've used have a recycle symbol on the bottom, though you have to tear off the foil top (also recycleable) and tear away the paper filter. Non of this is particularly laborious and the flip side is there's none of the cleanup that you have with a traditional coffee maker.

A bigger issue is the amount of electricity it will use if left turned on. It's fast because it keeps a small internal reservoir partially heated, then boosts temp when it comes time to brew with a 1500-watt heating element. The energy efficiency paradigm with this coffee maker will be similar to that of on-demand water heaters, though this unit is probably built to lesser standards than water heaters. A partial solution is to not leave the unit turned on.

DURABILITY: I can't comment on longevity - I've only had mine for a few months. However this thing is built like a tank and weighs nearly as much. The plastic parts seem reasonably sturdy. RE the commenter who had a fire with hers, her description ('pop' sound, location of flames, damaged outlet) sounds like she had a problem with her house wiring/outlet. She may not previously have put enough load on the bad outlet to challenge it until she plugged this coffee maker into it (it's 1500-watts).

FINAL TAKE ON IT: This coffee maker makes quick, excellent single cups of coffee, which is great for small households and for offering guests variety of choice. In my opinion the convenience is worth the noise and I make accommodations to address the expense-of-use and environmental issues. Let's hope Keurig reads these reviews and fixes the issues.

KISS your coffee

KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid.

Packaged one cup coffee makers.

$100 to create landfill in used $$$ K-cups? A tiny cup of coffee. One size coffee only?

I enjoy gadjets. Example: Commercial salmon fisherman for a season. I have managed a bakery coffee shop with toys for boys. The Hobart 32 quart mixer is a blast. Espresso machines are fun to operate yet a mess to clean. Fun to have free Double Mochas.

On the other spectrum i was a river raft guide. We heated water in a porcelain pot. Added coffee. Let it sit four minutes. Swung the pot around about ten times to settle the grinds. Added a bit of cold water to unsuspend the last grinds. Poured carefully. The idea fit in with the trip.

I looked at Keurig, Green Mountain Coffee (GMCR) as an investment. Most likely as a Short sale. I planned on buying one only for a test until I read Amazon reviews. No need to bother buying and returning it.

The five star? "It does not taste like instant coffee." At $100 and buying the $$$$ cups i hope not.

The one star. It rattles, makes noise, gets mold and breaks after a year.

OKAY make this a short sale. Other reviews wrote the K-cup was not watered fully.

Starbucks will tell you the best coffee is from a French Press. I had tried this years ago with failure. The beans must be ground very coarse. The filtering is the same as the metal drip filters. Meaning grind it at the store not with a home grinder unless you pay $100 for a good model.

A press is $20 to $45. Bodum makes the best. Starbucks contracted with Bodum to make the Art Deco model. Stailess steel with crafted cutouts. Clear Lucite handle and top.

A press is the smallest coffee maker. Also the simplest while offering complete control. No electricity required. You can use it camping and during power outs if you have a gas stove. Visiting friends and family i take it along.

At home you can move it off the counter to free space.

Simple action:
Boil water in a pan. Add coffee to the Press. Add the water. Stir. (A bamboo chopstick works best.) Steep four minutes. Press it. Pour the cup and the remainder into a caraf.

If the few small grinds bother you then pour into a caraf first and decant it. If the coffee is bitter then reduce the steeping time.

You control the amount of water, coffee and brewing time. Easy to make a half cup. No cost in filters.

A press also makes a milk frother. I use a Mexican Molinino $4.50 or a separate frother press i got at Goodwill $2.25. I use my smallest press an Rx drug rep present for draining Sauerkraut for Ruben sandwiches.

(Yes i have a tortilla press also and every simple gadget made.)

Cleaning a press is simple. Pull out the glass caraf and press. Wash the glass container. Rinse the press part. Either a quick rinse or a simple spin and the filter parts come about. Without separating them do a rinse and screw it back together loosely.

Hold the shaft and spin the filter. Wash, then reverse in one continous motion.

No cost even for filters. The full oils are present. Coffee is used most efficiently. No trash of filters or K-cups.

There are a few powdered "grinds" in the botton of the your cup. Decanting solves this or separate your fresh coffee by size. Use the small particles for Espresso or drip.

A hint on retail coffee drinking. At Starbucks two large Venti are $1.95 x 2 = $3.90. You can order a pressed coffee eight cup equivalent for $3.50. Employees appreciating you know your coffee will give you ceramic cups.

The best part is you choose any coffee at the same price. SBUX will open a for sale pack. I get the $16 a pound which would cost about $2.50 to $3.00 if i bought the pound of coffee. Each time i can get a different coffee. Most important as Starbucks is pushing that horrid Pike Place Market brew. It tastes the way the Seattle Pike Market smelled in 1967.

Do your research, then use your head.

I read every single Amazon.com review for this item. And then read them again. I went to the Keurig website and researched the B40. Came back to Amazon and read the reviews one more time. If I was going to pay $100 for a coffee machine, I wanted to be sure I knew as much as possible about it. I finally purchased the B40, and after getting it today and having brewed four cups of coffee so far, I offer the following review (from a BLACK COFFEE drinker, no milk, no sugar):

I think the people who claim this machine is too loud and complain that it vibrates too much are your normal "Mr. Coffee" people. Yes, the machine makes noise. It's pumping pressurized hot water into the K-Cups. Of course it's gonna make noise. I counted each time the noise was made. It lasts five seconds each time, at most. And it's MUCH quieter than my Melitta Mill & Brew, which grinds the coffee beans with a high shrill. This machine also vibrates. But again, it's well worth the minor noise and moderate vibration. You shouldn't be shelling out this much money for a coffee machine if you expect a Mr. Coffee coffee maker. You are buying a "gourmet" coffee machine, and it has some cool features that require hot pressurized water to be pumped through the machine. Not a big deal!

I think a lot of the negative reviews that I read, and maybe all of them, referred to an older version of the B40 that only had one cup size setting. Indeed, when I purchased this machine at Target today, the display model for the B40 had only one cup size. I had to triple-check the box to make sure I was getting the B40 with the TWO cup sizes (and I was). So maybe they have improved the machine since that version.

I read negative reviews about this machine making weak coffee. I was so freaked out about those reviews, I wanted to brew every K-Cup (even the Extra Bold) on the small cup setting. As I was brewing the third cup, I put in a "regular" K-Cup and hit the "large" cup setting. I immediately went into Panic Mode, worried that I just wasted a K-Cup, because my coffee would be too weak to drink. Not true at all! Yes, the coffee was not quite as strong as I would normally like, but it was a very decent cup of coffee. I will not worry if I ever hit the large size on a regular pod again. Although I plan on buying all Extra Bold cups, so that I can brew a bigger cup.

I am extremely pleased with this coffee machine. So much so that I plan to buy two of this same model (or the B60 if it's on sale) as Christmas gifts for my mom and uncle.

As a former coffee house Assistant Manager and an avid fan of "gourmet" coffee, I highly recommend this coffee machine. Probably the best $100 I have spent in at least five years. One of my biggest concerns was that the beans had NO TIME to brew properly in such a short amount of time. But I was completely wrong. This machine brews a nice, bold, rich cup of coffee. Slightly less bold and rich if you brew the regular pods on the larger cup setting; but still very drinkable. I was also concerned that the pods would leak after removing them from the machine, but they are almost dry. I haven't had a single one drip on the way to the trash can, and I remove them seconds after brewing. I'm extremely pleased with the ease and cleanliness of using this machine. No filters to deal with, no messy coffee grounds, no dirty coffee pots to wash (and filter baskets). The convenience of the machine alone is well worth the minor noise and vibration.

I highly recommend this machine. Just do your research and make sure this is the coffee machine you are looking for. It takes time to research, but it pays off in the end. I couldn't be happier with the B40, and don't see why anyone else wouldn't be just as pleased.

Time for me to make another cup.

Not worth the cost!

I received this coffee maker as a gift at Christmas 08. It was great at first. The coffee had a great, fresh taste and hot. After several cleanings, going by the instructions provided, the coffee doesn't taste good. It is also colder. Most of the time, I have to heated it up in the microwave. Then, the cost of the coffee. It is so expensive for a big coffee drinker. It is not worth it!

I bought a 4-cup Mr. Coffeemaker to save on cost. I enjoy it alot better then the Keurig Elite single-cup.

I love my Zarafina tea maker. It makes the perfect cup of tea after a long and stressful day. It is great if you love tea from loose tea leaves.

Rating :

I will buy another if mine breaks, I love it!

I give this product 4 stars, I enjoy it so much, I can experiment with different teas making up my own special tea. If I know the tea is strong, I can adjust it to mild brewing, if it is a weak light tea, I adjust to strong brewing. The process is enjoyable and entertaining.

Not all teas are of the same quality, if you are picky learn about all the different type of tea and experiment. Greene teas are the hardest to choose from due to the many varities, so do some research and have fun learning about teas.

Another benefit is that one tea bag placed on moderate or strong saves money in that it makes two good cups of tea instead of just one cup.

My only qualm is that I wish it could dispense one cup at a time and leave the second cup to stay warm for the next cup, but I still give it a 5 star rating!

I love it and when this one breaks, I will replace it with a new one!

Enjoy,
Ponchan

Questions & Answers
Question : Coffee Machine?
What is the bit on your coffee machine where you place the coffee and then attach it to your machine and then the water runs through it and warm coffee comes out - this is a really poorly written question - sorry!

Answer:
The filter basket? (holds the coffee grounds)

Question : Whats the best way to clean my coffee machine ?
Not the glass pot itself, but the actual coffee machine ! I have these little floaties after I make a pot of coffee.

Answer:
Run one cup of standard vinegar through the pot with only half the water. Then run it through with three quarters of a pot of water, then a full pot of water. It still won't clean the glass pot itself (you have to do that) but the line that pumps the water from the sump to the pot itself will be clean of residue built up. I do this with my Mr. Coffee once each month. No problems so far and I have had this Mr. Coffee machine for a number of years now.

Question : How do you properly clean a coffee machine?
Yesterday I decided to do my husband a favour and clean the coffee machine with vinegar. I thought by running two full carafes of water through it afterwards it would remove all the vinegar taste but apparantly the first batch of coffee tasted awful and had to be thrown out. Uh oh. I've put four more carafes of water through this morning. Now the water tastes fine to me. What do I do next? What should I do next time? Thanks in advance.

Answer:
Use a vinegar/water rinse, then run fresh water through it. I have a self cleaning coffee maker, but I still do this at least once a month because if I don't, the coffee starts getting a really nasty flavor to it. You did good!!! Really! But next time, do a vinegar/water rinse. It'll help. I've done the same thing on several occassions. There have been many a pot of coffee that have been thrown out in this house! So, you did good!

Question : Can I use instant coffee in a coffee machine?
Well I ran out of coffee beans and I can't get to the shops and I want coffee asap lol.I want to make cappacino and the machine manual says don't use Instant coffee.Has anyone used instant coffee in a coffee machine? any good? and how?

Answer:
they are totally different substances. Would you put water in a cars gas tank? it's the same thing. Instant is freeze dried coffee, regular coffee is the coffee beans roasted and ground up.

Question : How to clean out my coffee machine?
HI - I am finding my Breville coffee machine a little sluggish (happened a couple of times). That is, the steamer didn't start dripping when the machine was switched on (should start dripping about a minute after). A friend who is a coffee fanatic told me to use a mixture of lemon juice and ? (forgotten) but I was not willing to waste lemons for this (and the method seemed complex). Can anyone advise me what to use and how to do it?

Answer:
I've never heard of using lemons, but I have used white vinegar and had very good luck with that. I fill my coffee pot up half way with white vinegar and dump it into the water resevoir and let it run through the pot. I then dump another half of a coffee pot into the water resevoir and just let it sit there for a few minutes to help soak anything that might be inside the resevoir. I then run it through again and if you can do it, turn the coffee machine off half way through the drip process to help clean out the other parts of the machine. I then run 2 or 3 pots of water through the coffee machine to clear out all of the vinegar and gunk and the coffee runs and tastes better.

Question : Which home coffee machine is best for making a latte?
I buy coffee from a stall every morning on my way to work so have decided that it's worth investing in a decent coffee machine to make my own instead! Which home machine is good for lattes? Is there anything specfic I should look out for?

Answer:
Tassimo by Braun which brews one cup at a time. Can be purchased at Target or on-line. I have had one for over a year and love it.I also have a Bunn which I have had for over ten years and it is great for a fast pot of coffee for a crowd. I had a minor problem with it a few years back and Bunn sent replacement parts free of charge.

Question : How do you use a Saeco coffee machine?
I have a Saeco Magic de Luxe coffee machine and am wondering how to use it.

Answer:
Didn't it come with instructions? if not, how about ringing the retail company and seeing if they can send you some instructions. Everything comes with a manual. You sometimes need to do the work yourself which is unfortunate.

Question : How do I make coffee in an American machine?
Hi, this will seem very silly to many of you, but I'm an Aussie girl staying in a US hotel and I have NO IDEA how you work a drip coffee machine. Would somebody have the time to help me? It seems to be the standard one I've seen in your movies - heat at the base, pyrex clear container above that, then a plastic container. I have figured out that water goes down when I put it together, but do I need to heat the water beforehand? Where is the coffe packet supposed to go? I'm lost. We use plungers or espresso machines at home.

Answer:
You're fine. You poured the water correctly. Coffee packet goes into the filter slot. It should open. Then make sure it's plugged in and press the button to brew. Once you do a red/orange light turns on and turns off when done. Call front desk if you still need help. The water automatically heats and drips.
