The Ultimate Experience for Coffee Lovers!By roasting your own beans, you control the freshness of the coffee, rather than purchasing beans that might be weeks, or even months old. Independent experts agree, this is the best personal roaster available.Beans sold separately (not included).

Find Another Roaster
I bought one Cafe Rosto 3 years ago and have roasted about 25 pounds of coffee over that time. The machine worked fine as I gradually learned how to use it. The beans must be emptied from the roaster and cooled as soon as the desired roast color is attained. The cool-down cycle is just not fast enough to keep the beans from being over-roasted. During the last roast there was a noise and the machine was obviously in distress. I could hear something loose so I disassembled it. The motor is like the fan motor found in your average bathroom exhaust fan. The motor is held in place by two screws to a bakelite plate that is about 1/8 of an inch thick. That bakelite plate just disintgrated, precipitating the motor and fan into the surrounding housing. This machine is constructed of cheap materials and some stainless steel. It cannot operate very long before it will need major repairs. There may not be many of these available now and that is a good thing.

Coffee-tech/brioso Home Roaster
When we were in the States we used a hot air roaster for our green beans. Now that we're overseas I was introduced to the Coffee-tech roaster via a demonstration and my wife and I immediately bought one. The roaster is very easy to use. We roast 200 grams at a time over a gas burner and get excellent control and even distribution of the roasted beans. We have roasted our beans both manually and with the Coffee-tech motor. I can't necessarily taste the difference between the hot air and the flame roasted coffee, but it certainly makes exceptional coffee and and we are quite satisfied with our purchase. In addition we have found the owner of the company, Mr. Ram Evgi, extremely knowledgeable and helpful and he answered all our questions.

An amazing (functional!) piece of art !
Using Coffee-Tech's Torrefattore (1 Kg) roasting machine for over 5 years now, I was glad to find out I am now able to have a mobile roasting machine to use at home and at friends' houses, BBQs etc. This all copper machine gives excellent results and can even roast blends perfectly. I just love it !

Traditional roast is revived!
This machine is intended for home use, it can even take around 8-10 ounces per cycle, easy to use, simple tool and cool design.
I have it a year, every 2nd Saturday I am roasting a great coffee blend which makes my friends and family visit me mainly for the coffee... it is roasted like 150-200 years ago in Italy, with a high quality resault which makes every cup of coffee a fiesta to the mouth.
My personal opinion is that for the price range it is the best product Vs. the hot wind technology of the other machines which dry's out the beans.
Another thing to know is that coffee green beans cost less than half of the roasted coffe which is under different labels.
I recommend the electric model, but the manual is also a great fun.

Great appliance for a coffee afficionado
I have purchased a manual model about a year ago as a backup for my bigger Coffee-Tech 2.5lb Torrefattore roaster. I also use it as a sample roaster. This is a great little device that is capable of roasting enough coffee for a week in one or two batches. Since I have owned previously hot air roasters (Hearthware Precision and I-Roast 2) I can comment that I definitely prefer roasts from FZ-RR 700, which are rounder, sweeter, more aromatic and have fuller flavor spectrum. I also like the full control over heating and mixing that this device offers, allowing to explore the influence of faster or slower heating on flavor profile.
While this device shines in roasting, the convenience (or better lack of convenience) features may not fit everyone. While you don't need a vent and there is almost no chaff escaping the drum, you will still need to take care of cooling and chaff separation (I use two colanders for this). Bean inspection during roasting is also not very convenient. Those are the reasons I rated it four and not five stars.
On the other hand, it's simplicity and durability is definitely a big plus as opposed to most other home roasting appliances made with use of plastic and containing electronic components that tend to fail at some point.

Questions & Answers
Question : Does anyone have a suggestion on what model and brand of home coffee roaster I should purchase?
I want to buy a coffee roaster for my husband for his birthday. The problem is that I have no idea what one to get. He is REALLY into his coffee being freshly roasted and has a friend who roasts his own and just loves it. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. My husband is a wonderful, hardworking man who deserves a special gift.
Answer:
I've been roasting for years.I started with the Fresh Roast 8http://www.sweetmarias.com/prod.freshroast.phpIt is great for a first-time roaster, but it can't do large nough amounts for someone who drinks a lot of coffee. Mine lasted for about 4 years with plenty of use.For larger amounts try the Gene Cafehttp://www.sweetmarias.com/prod.genecafe.phpIt will let him do plenty of roasting and gives plenty of control. My current method is actually the cheapest, but I actually enjoy the hands-on of it. I now use a heat gun.http://www.homeroaster.com/heatgun.htmlhttp://www.ineedcoffee.com/04/heatgun/http://www.instruct ables.com/id/SZ2TY3EF3GAG1LS/This you have to do outside as there is a lot of smoke & chaf gets everywhere, but I love it. My method is a little different than what's described. I bought a strainer that fits the rim of a steel bowl perfectly. It allows the hot air to circulate better. I can roast a weeks worth of coffee in about 20-30 minutes.Update: Yeah, VC, I get almost all my green from them.

Question : How do you become a master coffee Roaster?
Is there a school or what
Answer:
Your best option would be to start on the ground floor with one of the best new independent coffee roasters in the industry (like stumptown, intelligentsia, and others) and learn from them, as apprentice so-to-say. There is a tremendous amount to learn, not just about roasting , but about the coffee itself. You've really got to understand the bean in order to bring out the right characteristics during the roast. Tom at Sweet Marias is an excellent source of information for the home roaster so feel free to ask him, and others in the industry, for advice.

Google is of no help here... Maybe ask some experts to find it, i.e. http://manualfox.comThey find you nearly every manual on earth. It´s not free, but sometimes worthy. Don´t forget to send them model number and pictures of your machine.
