Sure to please any coffee lover, the Cuisinart Burr Mill Grinder boasts a powerful 140 watts. It allows beans to be ground more consistently, which provides optimum flavor and aroma for your tasting pleasure.
Customer Review :
Don't be mislead.
If, as I was, you are looking for a grinder that will give you a uniform grind that will allow you to make coffee in a French press without all the silt, this "burr" grinder is not what you want. No matter what grind setting I use, for every four or five tablespoons of beans ground, there is at least a teaspoon of very fine powder. Much of that clings in a clump to the side of the bin opposite the hole the ground coffee is blown out of into the bin. I suppose one can try to separate and throw out that powder, but there will obviously be plenty left mixed in with the grounds that will end up in the coffee poured from a French press.
Frankly, I think a $15.00 chopper leaves one with less powder than this machine, especially if one chops in bursts and gently shakes the chopper a few times during chopping to mix the beans a bit. Also, with a chopper I find that most of the powder, in smaller amounts and not as fine as this machine generates, is at the bottom of the chopper and the ground coffee can simply be poured out leaving the powder.
Cleaning this machine is, of course, much more involved than cleaning a chopper and it does not appear to me that one can actually really get the grinding mechanism in the machine body cleared of the powder it produces. Maybe you could if you keep an air compressor and hose handy in your kitchen, but I think that's not a common kitchen appliance.

Great item. Shipped quickly, especially during the holiday season. Package was lacking lid but seller corrected issue very quickly. Good service!

WARNING: cannot grind fine enouigh for normal espresso machine!
The finest grind is still much too coarse for a run of the mill espresso machine, and much coarser, for instance, than what you can get in the super market. DO NOT BUY THIS GRINDER IF YOU INTEND TO MAKE ESPRESSO WITH IT. also IT IS DEAFENING.

The Ultimate Performing Coffee grinder , grinds up to 15 cups of beans. Takes all the guesswork out of grinding , as it automatically grinds coffee to the preset roast settings for the best tasting coffee . Internal cord wrap. Dishwasher safe removable stainless steel grinding chamber with cover .
Customer Review :
Cover vibrates loose. Shuts off early.
Like others, I have experienced this early shut-down right out of the box. It appears the plastic cover loosens and will not keep the 'safety switch' in the back on. The coffee beans are chopped up for a few seconds, then the unit quits. Now what do you do? It won't restart unless you reset the cover. And then, it usually quits early again. If it doesn't, your total grind-time is so excessive the beans are now coffee-dust. There is simply no controlling this spastic unit. The only way to force this thing to work is to hold the cover in a clockwise twist while the coffee is grinding. So much for being 'automatic'. This unit should be re-called and the designer sent back to the bar where he/she designed this thing.

It has nice features, less mess
I like "press a button" feature rather than holding down the top, you can actually prepare your filter while waiting for it to grind coffee, I also like that you can control the grind for what type of coffee maker you have. There's a cup that you can remove to pour the grounds instead of tipping the entire grinder, that's a nice feature. The "lock" is a little sensitive, and takes a couple of twists to get it just right.

Great but not long lasting...
I loved this product! (Notice the past tense) Although a little loud, it worked great for the 1-2 times a week we used it. After about a month, however, the motor started to smoke while in use and quickly burned out. I have contacted Hamilton Beach in regards to replacing it, we'll see what happens...

Have it more than 3 years
I loves this grinder. I don't remember when I got it, but it was more than 3 years ago for sure. It works great as other good reviews say. One thing I would like to add. Grinding "dry" coffee beans (the milder roasted coffee beans appear drier) can cause inconsistency in the grind because some of the coffee coarse grind sticks to the side. My solution is tapping the plastic cover of the grinder when it's grinding to force the coffee grind to fall. It works. Considering that I've tapped this machine for more than 3 years, I'm surprised that it lasts this long. Now one of the plastic locking pieces on the cover came off. No surprise. The grinder still works, but I need to hold the cover to lock it in place. I'm going to buy this grinder again for sure.

The best coffee grinder ever!!!
I received this coffee grinder as a gift and looked up the reviews after receiving it. I panicked when I read about all the people having trouble with it just stopping--all of a sudden it wouldn't work. The same thing happened to me one day. What I found, however, is that the few times this has happened it was because I either didn't have the covered aligned and screwed on properly or the metal part that holds the beans was not screwed in properly. It's not that it's hard to screw the pieces on properly--in hindsight it was my own error in not waiting for the "click-in" that feels right. Actually a no brainer to put the bean-grinder bowl in and put on the top. I have been using this grinder at least once a day for over a year and aside from the problems created by me, it has performed beautifully. I love it! It is truly hands-off. While the beans are grinding I fill the coffee maker and the beans are ready. Beans in, click (more of a "feel" than a sound), grinder bowl and cover securely on, press button to grind--that's it. No holding anything while waiting for beans to grind. You can also very easily switch the setting from 4 cups to 6-8-10 by slide up or down lever on the front as well as dial in the brew style on the front. For those who had trouble with it just stopping I urge you to go back and try again. This is the best coffee grinder I have owned in about 20 years of "grinding" and I highly recommend it.

Customer Review :
This Coffee Grinder Is a Necessity for Me
I had to get a coffee grinder.
I had some Kenya coffee beans.
I had the Kenya coffee beans because I could not find any Kenya coffee that was already ground up.
I had the Kenya coffee beans because I am a huge fan of the CoffeeHouse mystery series by Cleo Coyle, and in one of those books, it exclaimed how wonderful and awesome Kenya coffee is. I had never had any Kenya coffee, so I had to get some just to see how good it really is. It was kind of hard finding Kenya coffee (maybe the town I'm in is a little too small to find certain things), but I finally found some in Target, after checking all the grocery stores and the coffee shops. And it wasn't expensive at all. And Kenya coffee is indeed good.
But, this review is not for Kenya coffee. It is for the red Mr. Coffee Coffee Grinder with Chamber Maid Cleaning System.
I give this product five stars because it works beautifully and easily. I was a little worried at first, because I am not too good at anything mechanical, but this coffee grinder is very easy and simple to use; therefore, even the mechanically-challenged can used it with no problems at all.
Easy to use. Grinds the coffee beautifully. Perfect.

Strange design, useless features, won't die
So this grinder works consistently. I've never had trouble with motor, grind quality, etc. However, it's features (# of cups, grind quality) don't seem to make a difference. No matter the setting, you must still hold down the button until it reaches your desired consistency--so nothing automatic about it. Not a big problem there but the cup that hold the beans/grounds is cumbersome. There are little plastic ribs that do not remove and consequently all the grounds get caught in between. If you bang it on the side of the brew basket, grounds fly everywhere. The lid also gets in the way when trying to dump out the grounds. Since the lid doesn't detach, it flops awkwardly or re-latches creating yet another mess. On the bright side, I've had it over a year and use it whenever my preferred grinder dies. In fact, it was re-gifted to me because the previous owner didn't like it either! I like the Hamilton Beach hands-free grinder, but it only lasts about 6 months.

Mr. Coffee red Coffee Grinder an instant hit at our house!
It works great! I place four hand fulls of coffee beans (to the max line) into the top and press the grind button and hold it down for a few seconds and PRESTO, very nicely ground coffee. Then I grind up another four hand fulls, placing the grinds into a plastic container. I do this about once a week.
There are some grounds left at the bottom of the grinder. With the unit unplugged, I just swish my finger around at the bottom and then tap the Mr. Coffee top into my plastic coffee grinds container, and Mr. Coffee is ready for another happy grind experience.
I LOVE it. My wife LOVES it. I don't expect it to download and play MP3s, just to grind coffee for me in a fun, clean way and it does just that. Plus...... it is an attractive coffee grinder. Looks nice on the counter.

Nice design for a blade grinder..
The shape was similar to my old Mr. Coffee burr grinder, so at first disappointed it was a blade unit. However, this is well designed and thought out. You have to hold down the top until the timer stops the grinding. Good uniform grind. The bowl unit and top remove for cleaning under water, hooray, no more oily stinky coffee grinder. Note the align marks on the side to easily replace bowl and top. AT first I just spun it around to get it in place, but looking at the color notches makes it easy. Like it.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!
THE CORD ON THIS BABY IS MINUSCULE! I HAVE TO PLUG IT INTO AN EXTENSION CORD JUST TO GET IT PLUGGED IN WITHOUT HAVING TO HOLD IT TO THE WALL! IT IS VERY INCONVENIENT. THE GRINDER ITSELF WORKS FINE OTHERWISE BUT IT IS POORLY DESIGNED THAT CORD SHOULD BE LONGER.
I HATE HAVING AN EXTENSION CORD ON MY COUNTER! MY GOD I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT MR. COFFEE WOULD HAVE MORE SENSE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED.

short term use only
This should be called a "disposable grinder" -- it worked surprisingly well for about two months. Then I suppose the blades got dull. IN any case, it stopped grinding evenly, there were big chunks and dust each time, and I had to throw it in the garbage. Other reviews confirm this.

Did a good job until it quit
As far as I am concerned, this grinder did a great job up intil yesterday morning when it just stopped working. Its less than two years old! Reading other reviews about the reliability of this product, I think that I'll shop for another model as a replacement.

Useless junk
I bought this to use for coffee and continued to use my old Krups grinder for spices. The Krups grinder has finally failed, after 30 years; this piece of trash died after @ 8 months. The top will no longer stay tightly closed, so it doesn't grind at all, after a couple of months where the grind was very inconsistent and a lot of partial beans were ending up in the mix. I would strongly advise against wasting money on this appliance. I'm going back for another Krups.

Not Built well
This Item looks good BUT Beware! It smoked and smelled and got hot on the third use!!

Not for espresso
This is probably a fine grinder for percolator coffee but does not create a fine enough or consistent enough grind for expresso. Seriously. Do not buy it. If you put it on the espresso setting and only let it go through one cycle (as it is designed to do) your espresso will end up very weak and watery (as what you essentially have gotten is a grind consistency appropriate for percolated or drip coffee.
I have tried to grind through two cycles on a higher cup setting (8 for 2 shots and 12 for 4 shots), which helps but even with shaking in between and while grinding, you still end up with only about half of the coffee fine enough to produce dark espresso.
Some reviewers will say "what did you expect from an inexpensive blade grinder?" to which I say, I expected what the manufacturer indicated the machine could do! If it can't make espresso grind coffee then don't put it on the machine and labeling!!! Further, a blade grinder CAN do this job. I had an inexpensive blade grinder for years that I was able to make decent espresso with by shaking it a bit about halfway through the grind cycle. It eventually died or I would still be using it today instead of this machine.

great grinder
Works great. Fast and powerful. Unlike others I have had, not a lot of the static electricity that some have... if you have even had one that blows coffee grinds everywhere, you'll know what I mean. GREAT value for the price.

I have had several grinders and this is by far the worst one! It did not grind the beans up very fine, it was not convenient. I made a mess everytime I used it... I would NOT tell anyone to buy this one.

This grinder is the same model that I was replacing. It is quite a bit more stylish with it's shiny exterior. It arrived very quickly and has been doing it's thing every day since. I would recommend this item to anyone. The last one lasted several years and was used constantly.

Questions & Answers
Question : what is the best brand of coffee grinder. also electric vs. hand grinder? why?
also where is a site showing how to sharpen knives pref. with added video. can a bread knife be sharpened. (put in 2 questions because down on pts. they say) thanks.
Answer:
I have a Cuisinart electric grinder (the only way to go is electric). I've had mine for over 10 years and no problem. I also have another that I use just for grinding spices...Regarding your serrated knife-if it did not cost alot of money and is not high quality, better to just toss it and buy a new one. If it is high quality, you will want a pro to sharpen it--but it's not gonna be cheap--they are labor intensive to sharpen.

I have this electric spice grinder and i want to grind sesame seeds in it. I have used it for coffee beans before. So, how do I clean it properly so that i am not mixing sesame seeds with coffee beans?

Tear up a piece of bread and run it in the grinder. It's like a sponge and will clean things up nicely. I use it all the time.

Question : Can you grind other things besides meat in a meat grinder?
we are looking for a heavy duty grinder for food. we need a grinder to grind up roots into powder, and we don't think that a coffee grinder will do the job.can we put things besides meat in a meat grinder?if not, what would you suggest grinding roots in?we are looking for an electric grinder.thank you.
Answer:
You can grind anything in there. Just make sure to wash it thoroughly after each use. I actually put raw cranberries in mine to make cranberry salad. So yeah, pretty much anything will grind up in there. But it will not grind it powder-fine. You will likely need to process it again in a food processor or coffee grinder to get it into a powder.

Question : Looking for info. on a Coffee Mill / Grinder
I found an old vintage electric coffee mill made by Cincinnati Time Recorder Co. It weighs about 65 lbs. and is in good shape. Plugged it in and the motor runs smoothly too.I could not see letting it get tossed in a landfill. But I can not find any info on this particular grinder. The company mostly made time clocks dating back to 1896. And I think they made kitchen items up till the mid 1940's.Would like to determine if it is worthless or an item that someone would collect? It is a model #225 if that helps anyone.
Answer:
put it on e-bay if you don't find someone here how wants it maybe someone will want it

Question : How long should I grind coffee for?
Good Morning! I finally decided to try whole bean coffee instead of ground coffee! Two quick questions:1. Does whole bean coffee really have more flavor than ground coffee?and2. For how long should I grind the coffee for? I have one of those small personal sized electric grinders. The directions with the grinder said 20 seconds, but I just wanted to verify on that with other coffee drinkers! Thanks!Randy
Answer:
Whole beans from those clear dispensers @ the grocery store are not much better than pre-ground coffee. Beans in valve-sealed bags are as fresh as you can get without buying right from the roaster or roasting your own.Blade grinders aren't great for coffee as they pulverized (not grind) the beans, but you can use them for most drip brewers pretty well. 20 seconds is a good starting point, you'll be able to judge your preference after a few tries.Don't go 20 seconds straight. Blades create heat which damages the bean's flavor. Go in 3-5 second bursts, that will also let you look between bursts to see how the grind looks.
