Editorial Review :

Anfim's Super Caimano espresso grinder, upon its initial release, was a solid addition to any high-end coffee house. It featured a 75mm flat burr set that helped to give a very consistent grind, allowing baristas to rely upon it for excellent shot-to-shot uniformity. When dialing in a coffee, the Super Caimano had 70 holes in its adjustment collar to allow for tinkering between shots. Now, however, Anfim has added an additional 20 spots for a total of 90 holes in the adjustment collar. The benefit of this? When dialing in and finding the sweet spot for any coffee being used to pull shots of espresso, a key factor the barista must take into consideration is the size of the grind particles. Yes, uniformity and consistency of those grind particles is also key, but the ability to make tiny, incremental adjustments is always helpful when striving to find the right balance of all a coffee's characteristics when pulled as espresso.

Customer Review :

I have a better grinder that cost $6 at our local cheapie market.

Cuisinart. You think Cuisinart and you think "quality product," right? Think again, at least on this count. I have a lovely Cuisinart coffee maker and pots-and-pans set, as well as their wonderful fodd processor that has been chugging along for years. But this grinder really surprised me. The grinds were really uneven, some chunks being nearly whole beans, others ground within an inch of their molecular structure. And when I used it the second day, a few stray grinds came spewing out the side of the thing -- the seal wasn't tight if there were any leftover grinds from the last time. It feels chintzy and cheap, and I am promptly returning it. Bummer -- I thought Cuisinart made quality a priority.

Breaks - Spend Your Money Elsewhere!

The Cuisinart coffee grinder model DCG-20N is a waste of good money. The plastic holding the blade starts breaking after little more than a week's use (low intensity use at that - just once a day), and if you don't want to / cannot afford to spend money on a new grinder, you have to check and clean the ground coffee / spices of the broken plastic pieces.

What's more, in a matter of a week or two more, this plastic disc is so badly broken that the blades collapse and the grinder becomes unusable. I gave it the benefit of doubt (partly because it was the only brand that the local grocery store kept) the first time this happened and bought it a second time and in a different color, after a gap of over a year just in case it was something to do with the batch.....and it happened again, in exactly the same way! And this in spite of the fact that I took really really good care to always follow the instructions in the manual!

This is a very very very substandard product. I feel cheated of my hard-earned money, and am never going to buy a Cuisinart product ever again.

Customer Review :

Perfect condition. Would definitely buy refurbished again.

Not much to say about this grinder except that it does a great job of creating an even grind at every level between espresso and French roast. Buying it refurbished at less than half of the price of a new one helps make it feel abundantly worth the money, too.

It is a bit loud, but is there a grinder that isn't?

you call this a grinder?

I really thought this was going to be great! Ordered it, got it home, made coffee. Turned the grinder to Fine and tried it. Seemed OK, but did not seem very fine. Left it, came back the next morning and made a full pot of coffee. Put the indicator to the maximum Fine setting. After pouring the coffee, I pulled out the grinds and checked the left overs. With my blade grinder, the grounds look like slick, dark brown mud, but this thing didn't get that fine, it looked like beach sand texture. I am sending it back. It is nice to have a one touch grinder but not when it doesn't do the job well enough, and I don't want to have to pour the grinds through a second time just to get it fine enough.

Broke after less than 3 months

We'd been using this burr grinder for less than 3 months when the top piece broke off. The bean hopper piece feeds the beans down a tube to the burr grinder. This tube is what snapped in half on ours.

Reconditioned for a reason

Don't buy it. Design won't hold up to rigor of daily use. Used for three months, and now broken. They have reconditioned product for a resason this is a POS.

coffee mill

The price was a bargain, but I miss my trouble free cuisinart coffee grinder. This burr mill is great, but you need to be cautious about two items, one, the darn coffee comes out loaded with static electricity so it sticks to the plastic receptacle where the ground coffee sits, and two, the French Roast coffee I use must be oily, because after several weeks this mill literally craps out without warning, no motor, nothing; in this case, Cuisinart does not tell you, but you need to peek at the output spout of the mill where it shoots the ground coffee, take a screwdriver and sort of pry the jammed coffee grounds out of the spout, then the mill works like before. I have a feeling most people faced with the latter situation, just give up and trash the mill. Again, I think if I ever get tired of my mill, I'll go back to my trusty coffee grinder.

Questions & Answers
Question : what is the best brand of coffee grinder. also electric vs. hand grinder? why?
also where is a site showing how to sharpen knives pref. with added video. can a bread knife be sharpened. (put in 2 questions because down on pts. they say) thanks.

Answer:
I have a Cuisinart electric grinder (the only way to go is electric). I've had mine for over 10 years and no problem. I also have another that I use just for grinding spices...Regarding your serrated knife-if it did not cost alot of money and is not high quality, better to just toss it and buy a new one. If it is high quality, you will want a pro to sharpen it--but it's not gonna be cheap--they are labor intensive to sharpen.

Question : What is best - Electric or manual turning coffee grinder.?
How is ground coffee granule size determined. Does it matter.

Answer:
I LIKE MY ELECTRIC GRINDER...ITS QUICK,THOROUGH AND UNIFORM

Question : How do you clean a spice/coffee grinder?
I have this electric spice grinder and i want to grind sesame seeds in it. I have used it for coffee beans before. So, how do I clean it properly so that i am not mixing sesame seeds with coffee beans?

Answer:
Tear up a piece of bread and run it in the grinder. It's like a sponge and will clean things up nicely. I use it all the time.

Question : Can you grind other things besides meat in a meat grinder?
we are looking for a heavy duty grinder for food. we need a grinder to grind up roots into powder, and we don't think that a coffee grinder will do the job.can we put things besides meat in a meat grinder?if not, what would you suggest grinding roots in?we are looking for an electric grinder.thank you.

Answer:
You can grind anything in there. Just make sure to wash it thoroughly after each use. I actually put raw cranberries in mine to make cranberry salad. So yeah, pretty much anything will grind up in there. But it will not grind it powder-fine. You will likely need to process it again in a food processor or coffee grinder to get it into a powder.

Question : Looking for info. on a Coffee Mill / Grinder
I found an old vintage electric coffee mill made by Cincinnati Time Recorder Co. It weighs about 65 lbs. and is in good shape. Plugged it in and the motor runs smoothly too.I could not see letting it get tossed in a landfill. But I can not find any info on this particular grinder. The company mostly made time clocks dating back to 1896. And I think they made kitchen items up till the mid 1940's.Would like to determine if it is worthless or an item that someone would collect? It is a model #225 if that helps anyone.

Answer:
put it on e-bay if you don't find someone here how wants it maybe someone will want it

Question : How long should I grind coffee for?
Good Morning! I finally decided to try whole bean coffee instead of ground coffee! Two quick questions:1. Does whole bean coffee really have more flavor than ground coffee?and2. For how long should I grind the coffee for? I have one of those small personal sized electric grinders. The directions with the grinder said 20 seconds, but I just wanted to verify on that with other coffee drinkers! Thanks!Randy

Answer:
Whole beans from those clear dispensers @ the grocery store are not much better than pre-ground coffee. Beans in valve-sealed bags are as fresh as you can get without buying right from the roaster or roasting your own.Blade grinders aren't great for coffee as they pulverized (not grind) the beans, but you can use them for most drip brewers pretty well. 20 seconds is a good starting point, you'll be able to judge your preference after a few tries.Don't go 20 seconds straight. Blades create heat which damages the bean's flavor. Go in 3-5 second bursts, that will also let you look between bursts to see how the grind looks.
