If you are looking for a high performance espressocoffee grinder with micrometrical adjustment of the grinding burrs andavailable for the most demanding situation presented by an espressofanatic, then this is the grinder for you. Unlike some other coffee grindermanufacturers, Macap made requested changes at their cost whilemaintaining a very competitive price point for both the home enthusiastand the coffee shop owner. Some standout features include chrome platedsteel to match polished stainless steel espresso machines and theplacement of the electrical cord is under the grinder (not out of theside body as found on many other espresso coffee grinders).Confused about the difference betweenthe Macap M4 and Macap M5 grinder? That is easily remedied. The M4 grinder is the newestoffshoot of the Macap M5. The Macap M5 has a longer, higher bean hopperon top that makes it extend over 18" in height - which may not be practical for all homes. The Macap M4 was designed with a lower, but wider bean hopperprofile for use in your home, office, or commercial establishments. Please note that the Macap M4 is a commercial-grade grinder and this grinderis capable of producing the finest grinds for any espresso machine. Make sure you have the required space before purchasing. The Macap M4 "Stepless" Espresso Grinder from Espresso Parts. The "Stepless" Macap M4 grinder's defining characteristic is a wormgear drive controlled stepless burr adjustment which allows the baristanear infinite control over the how fine or course their coffee isground. Some have said it is the best stepless grinder on the markettoday. We at Espresso Parts think it puts Macap on a more level playingfield with competitors like Mazzer. The Macap M4 also features thepopular and much prefered on/off switchgrinder activation instead of the timer switch that Mazzer has chosento use on all the grinders shipped to the United States. This grinder is prefect for any dedicated espresso set up but is notrecommended for situations requiring grinding for various methods ofcoffee brewing as the grind adjustment happens very slowly. Questions & Answers
Question : what is the best brand of coffee grinder. also electric vs. hand grinder? why?
also where is a site showing how to sharpen knives pref. with added video. can a bread knife be sharpened. (put in 2 questions because down on pts. they say) thanks.
Answer:
I have a Cuisinart electric grinder (the only way to go is electric). I've had mine for over 10 years and no problem. I also have another that I use just for grinding spices...Regarding your serrated knife-if it did not cost alot of money and is not high quality, better to just toss it and buy a new one. If it is high quality, you will want a pro to sharpen it--but it's not gonna be cheap--they are labor intensive to sharpen.

Question : How do you clean a spice/coffee grinder?
I have this electric spice grinder and i want to grind sesame seeds in it. I have used it for coffee beans before. So, how do I clean it properly so that i am not mixing sesame seeds with coffee beans?
Answer:
Tear up a piece of bread and run it in the grinder. It's like a sponge and will clean things up nicely. I use it all the time.

Question : Can you grind other things besides meat in a meat grinder?
we are looking for a heavy duty grinder for food. we need a grinder to grind up roots into powder, and we don't think that a coffee grinder will do the job.can we put things besides meat in a meat grinder?if not, what would you suggest grinding roots in?we are looking for an electric grinder.thank you.
Answer:
You can grind anything in there. Just make sure to wash it thoroughly after each use. I actually put raw cranberries in mine to make cranberry salad. So yeah, pretty much anything will grind up in there. But it will not grind it powder-fine. You will likely need to process it again in a food processor or coffee grinder to get it into a powder.

Question : Looking for info. on a Coffee Mill / Grinder
I found an old vintage electric coffee mill made by Cincinnati Time Recorder Co. It weighs about 65 lbs. and is in good shape. Plugged it in and the motor runs smoothly too.I could not see letting it get tossed in a landfill. But I can not find any info on this particular grinder. The company mostly made time clocks dating back to 1896. And I think they made kitchen items up till the mid 1940's.Would like to determine if it is worthless or an item that someone would collect? It is a model #225 if that helps anyone.
Answer:
put it on e-bay if you don't find someone here how wants it maybe someone will want it

Question : How long should I grind coffee for?
Good Morning! I finally decided to try whole bean coffee instead of ground coffee! Two quick questions:1. Does whole bean coffee really have more flavor than ground coffee?and2. For how long should I grind the coffee for? I have one of those small personal sized electric grinders. The directions with the grinder said 20 seconds, but I just wanted to verify on that with other coffee drinkers! Thanks!Randy
Answer:
Whole beans from those clear dispensers @ the grocery store are not much better than pre-ground coffee. Beans in valve-sealed bags are as fresh as you can get without buying right from the roaster or roasting your own.Blade grinders aren't great for coffee as they pulverized (not grind) the beans, but you can use them for most drip brewers pretty well. 20 seconds is a good starting point, you'll be able to judge your preference after a few tries.Don't go 20 seconds straight. Blades create heat which damages the bean's flavor. Go in 3-5 second bursts, that will also let you look between bursts to see how the grind looks.
