Starbucks Tries For Instant Success
With the might of so many companies making great cups of coffee, it is honestly hard to tell which ones can honestly be the best. While there are those that are great in instant form like Maxwell House, there are others that aren't worth the money. That honestly is the case with Starbucks Via Ready Brew. I got to try this one during a taste test recently, and honestly, I really wasn't very impressed with a cup of this. It really didn't even taste as strong as the store brands usually do. Overall, I would honestly recommend Starbucks tries to reinvent their formula, and then come back with a better taste for my mouth. Overall, stick with Taster's Choice or any other brand. This Starbucks Via Ready Brew isn't really worth the money.

Great quick cup of coffee
I drink Starbucks drip coffee. The instant tastes just as good, and is great when you don't want to make a whole pot. Friends could not believe they were drinking instant coffee.

Instant can actually be good.
I really want to hate this still. Instant, really? However this stuff is not your moms instant. It tastes like a good dripped cup of Starbucks, and although the price seems high, Its about 50 cents to 75 cents a cup. Not bad compared to the $2.12 it comes to in the store for a cup after tax. Just make sure you use the right amount of water. (Don't get greedy and add to much). My work has coffee they love to say is free to everyone. Like it a bonus or something. It tastes like its made of dirt and wood chips, and goes down like battery acid. I bring a box of Via and keep it in my desk. I can honestly say it makes my job better. Costco carries this too from time to time at a killer deal. But its hit or miss. This is a good price at Amazon.

FINALLY!!!
I have been waiting for a coffee like this for years. It's not only delicious and close to the real thing, it's conveniently packaged so that you can take it anywhere. I think its worth the money. The aroma smells great and I love that it's actually a microground coffee and not some conglomeration of unknown ingredients. Thank you Starbucks! :)

Surprise! Instant coffee that isn't disgusting! AND it comes from Starbucks!
I thought I would hate an instant coffee by Starbucks. For one, I dislike Starbucks coffee in general. I tend to support small coffee shops owned by local people, not huge corporations like Starbucks. The second reason is that I prefer cappuccinos, with their strong coffee flavor and foamy milk. That having been said, I was desperate for a coffee fix while visiting my parents in a rural area of Alabama. I thought I would try VIA since my nearest coffee shop was about 40 minutes away AND their coffee wasn't very good. Boy was I surprised! I make my VIA with milk to closer approximate a latte or cappuccino. It's smooth and very drinkable. I don't prefer it to my usual cappuccino but it does work in a pinch for sure. I imagine someone who likes drip coffee would like this a lot, especially with the ease of preparation.
I won't be buying this back in Portland but when I am visiting relatives or otherwise in a coffee-less situation, I would definitely purchase VIA again!

Delicious rich and creamy Italian style coffee
Customer Review :
Good Coffee but impossible to find in a store
It is getting harder to find this flavor in stores so I am glad to be able to get it online. A little more pricey than I want, but I really like a cup of this first thing in morning, and after supper, and generally right before bed. I drink perked coffee all day at work and on the road, so this coffee is what I look forward to at times. Still cannot find it in any store, I also like the Mocha flavor. Now all you can find is the flavors in a Latte or or Cafe style that is frothy. It is like General Foods think everyone in the world are Yuppies or hang out in Friends coffee shops or Fraziers coffee shop, never mind the long time coffee enjoyers still want a solid cup of joe when they want. Have sent emails to GF international coffee before, but no one ever responds.

Has the flavor, not too sweet
I love this product and had such a hard time finding it where I live. When I did I would clean the shelve out of it. It has delicious, creamy flavor but it's not too sweet where it tastes like you're drinking dessert. The price is unbelievablly cheap. When you subscribe and save it's even cheaper and of course free shipping. Now instead of 'hunting' for the product all I have to do is open the door every month and 'gather'.

Long-time buyer
I have been buying GFIC Italian Cappuccino for more than 10 years and absolutely love it. I think they are discontinuing this product in favor of their new 'foaming' products. I'm not in love with those. I don't want my coffee to foam on its own. I just want my tasty cup of coffee.

Purchase of General Foods International Coffee
Since we moved to Florida, I had been unable to purchase my favorite coffee (Italian Cappuchino). I was delighted to see that it was available through Amazon.com and I was able to save $$ through the autodelivery plan. Thank you so much!!! Joan Roth

Is the price a misprint?
I ordered this coffee in Oct. at $21.39 for a "6 pack." Now it is $49.95 for the same amount! What happened??? This is a great coffee, but not at that price.

Naturally flavored instant Chai tea latte mix. A creamy blend of tea, sweetness and spice inspired by the ancient recipes of India.

Was a Great Tea
I never bought this from Amazon. I used to buy it in my local store. I loved this Chai Tea but they changed the formula. The taste is terrible now - like chemicals. Maxell House even gave me a coupon, for a free one, which I didn't use.
Rating :
Tastes artificial
I agree with the other one-star reviews here. I bought this just recently at the store, and it tastes overly sweet and artificial. If you look carefully at the ingredients you'll see that instead of the things like cinnamon and ginger, you get "natural and artificial flavors". yuk.

Good stuff
This item used to be available to me in my area...it has been off the shelves for months now and I was very happy to find a supply on Amazon...I have tried other chai mixes...powdered and liquid but this is hands down the best one for me...I add it to a cup of black and/or green tea to enhance the flavor and experience...it's not too sweet...just gives a smooth chai taste to a cup of tea...I recommend it to chai fans to enjoy at home...

Best Instant Chai Latte I Can Find
I used to buy this locally but all the stores have stopped carrying the product. I found it at Amazon.com and was happy to order the minimum of 6 cans. It's much better than the Taste of Home product which is more expensive and too harsh. General Foods has changed the taste of this product recently; it's not as full-flavored as the old one, but still my preferred choice when I want chai.

GFI Chai Latte Drink
I love this chai latte. It is impossible to find any place except at Amazon.com. I add a teaspoon of CoffeeMate creamer to the latte that makes it taste really good and I like the 60 calories per cup. Keep selling this product.

Customer Review :
Wonderful coffee!
I gave up stove-top espresso making more than 3 years ago. It was too inconsistent, messy and not particularly satisfying. As an alternative I picked up Mount Hagen Organic Freeze Dried Instant Coffee while wandering through the organic food section at our local store. To my surprise, it met my needs - it tasted great and was easy.
Our local store was out of Mount Hagen for a long period of time and I tried the new Starbucks instant coffee (Columbian I think). It was good, even superior to other "instant" coffees. I even ended up preferring it to their fresh-brewed. Ultimately though, it was overwhelming and the richness left me feeling queasy. I realized that Mount Hagen was the only one for me. I now order it online, making sure to have a well-stocked cupboard so I never run out.

My wife loves the stuff!
Though I think that this product is a bit expensive for instant coffee form Germany (or anywhere else), my wife loves the stuff. It is pretty good and buying it on-line and by a case of six makes the cost about $1.00 a bottle less than at Whole Foods.

The Most Delicious Instant Organic Coffee to Be Found
I love coffee but have developed somewhat of an intolerance to caffeine. Although caffeinated, I am able to drink one cup of this most tasty coffee every morning - hooray! I like the caffeine energy, prefer organic, and this item fits the ticket to a T.

Broken Glass Doesn't Make Good Brew
Due to very poor packaging, this coffee arrived with an extra - broken glass? This is the second time this has happened and guess what? It's not returnable! Nice huh?

I die for this product! It's the best
I can't find this product in the grocery stores anymore; I don't understand why. It's the abolute most delicious beverage ever. I now buy it ahead in bulk to be sure I have it. So glad Amazon carries it. It's frothy and sweet and a wonderful after dinner coffee drink. It's low in calories too! I have had none of the problems other people mentioned about getting the correct quantity. Amazon must have fixed that problem. Try this capp, you'll love it!!

GFI Cafe Mocha
This cappuccino mix is no longer readily available in various parts of the country. Being able to order online and have it delivered to our front door is so convenient. We never have to run out and search for it in a local grocery store, only to find yet another store has stopped carrying the delicious mix. We have enjoyed GF cappuccino mixes for many years and hope they continue to make it for our consumption!

Good product
But what the heck happened to the price? I can see paying 24.00 but not 59. What in the world would precipitate a more than 100% increase in less than a month.

Love the single packets
Besides being great tasting-not too sweet-I love the convenience of the individual packets. You can throw them in your bag and be ready to enjoy cappuccino anytime, just add hot water. They are also great because each pack is only 100 calories making it a wonderful satisfying mid-afternoon treat.

Questions & Answers
Question : Does anyone have a suggestion on what model and brand of home coffee roaster I should purchase?
I want to buy a coffee roaster for my husband for his birthday. The problem is that I have no idea what one to get. He is REALLY into his coffee being freshly roasted and has a friend who roasts his own and just loves it. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. My husband is a wonderful, hardworking man who deserves a special gift.
Answer:
I've been roasting for years.I started with the Fresh Roast 8http://www.sweetmarias.com/prod.freshroast.phpIt is great for a first-time roaster, but it can't do large nough amounts for someone who drinks a lot of coffee. Mine lasted for about 4 years with plenty of use.For larger amounts try the Gene Cafehttp://www.sweetmarias.com/prod.genecafe.phpIt will let him do plenty of roasting and gives plenty of control. My current method is actually the cheapest, but I actually enjoy the hands-on of it. I now use a heat gun.http://www.homeroaster.com/heatgun.htmlhttp://www.ineedcoffee.com/04/heatgun/http://www.instruct ables.com/id/SZ2TY3EF3GAG1LS/This you have to do outside as there is a lot of smoke & chaf gets everywhere, but I love it. My method is a little different than what's described. I bought a strainer that fits the rim of a steel bowl perfectly. It allows the hot air to circulate better. I can roast a weeks worth of coffee in about 20-30 minutes.Update: Yeah, VC, I get almost all my green from them.

Question : How do you become a master coffee Roaster?
Is there a school or what
Answer:
Your best option would be to start on the ground floor with one of the best new independent coffee roasters in the industry (like stumptown, intelligentsia, and others) and learn from them, as apprentice so-to-say. There is a tremendous amount to learn, not just about roasting , but about the coffee itself. You've really got to understand the bean in order to bring out the right characteristics during the roast. Tom at Sweet Marias is an excellent source of information for the home roaster so feel free to ask him, and others in the industry, for advice.

Question : A question for coffee roasters. Do you know why Starbucks over roasts all their coffee?
Having roasted coffee for some years now, I am always amazed that the coffee beans offered by Starbucks (Also known as *$'s and Charbucks by many home-roasters) is always roasted to the darkest possible degree. Most of their coffee tastes BURNT. Do any of you other coffee roasters know why or understand why they do this?Sorry, but to me when you roast the Beans that dark you have lost the uniqueness of that origin. Your thoughts on that?
Answer:
I've been trying to answer that question for nearly 10 years. I stopped drinking their coffee and roasted and grinding my own at home. And, people still buy that crap like it doesn't taste like metallic ash, just because it has the starbucks label on it. People are sheep.
